Royal Caribbean’s VOOM Internet is fast enough to keep you connected at sea, but it can be expensive — especially for families and groups. The good news? You can share one internet package across multiple devices, and even between staterooms, if you plan it right.

How VOOM Works

When you buy a VOOM package, you’re paying for the number of devices connected at the same time, not the number of people or total devices you bring.

That means:

  • 4 people / 1 device each = all four can be online at once.
  • 1 person / 4 devices = any of your four devices can get online, but only one at a time.

You can log out of one device and log in on another as often as you want — which makes it easy to share within your travel group.

Real-World Example: Sharing Between 2 Staterooms

Let’s say you’re a family of 4 in cabin 7422 and the grandparents are across the hall in 7423.

  • Family of 4 devices: Four iPhones, one laptop, and a Nintendo Switch (6 devices).
  • Grandparents’ devices: Two Android phones (2 devices).

That’s 8 devices in total — but not everyone needs to be online at once.

Here’s how it plays out:

  • The parents and kids use their iPhones to stay in touch while exploring the ship.
  • Back in the stateroom, one parent logs out of their iPhone to check email on the laptop.
  • One of the kids logs out of their iPhone to hop on the Nintendo Switch.
  • The grandparents keep their Androids in the safe most of the day, but if they want to check in online, they can — as long as someone else logs off first.

This way, one VOOM plan with multiple devices keeps everyone covered without paying for six separate packages.

Tips to Save Money on VOOM

  • Buy early in the Cruise Planner — Pre-cruise discounts can be 10–30% less than onboard prices.
  • Watch for price drops — If it’s cheaper before you sail, cancel and rebook at the lower rate.
  • Use port days for free Wi-Fi — Many cafés and terminals offer free internet, so you can skip VOOM those days.

Things to Know Before You Share

  • Internet speed is the same whether you’re in the same room or across the hall.
  • You’re responsible for anyone using your login info.
  • VOOM Surf + Stream is best for streaming, video calls, and uploads. Basic Surf is fine for email and messaging.

Bottom line: If your group doesn’t need to be online at the same time, buying one VOOM package for multiple devices — even across staterooms — can save you hundreds of dollars per cruise.
