If you use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, you know it’s a must-have for restful nights. Step 1: Know What’s Not Allowed
Royal Caribbean’s prohibited items list includes extension cords and power strips, even the ones labeled “cruise approved” online. They’re a fire safety risk, so they’ll be removed during security screening if you try to bring one.
Step 2: Submit the Special Needs Form
Before you sail, fill out Royal Caribbean’s Guest Special Needs Form.
- You can find it here: Royal Caribbean Guest Special Needs
- Do this at least 30 days before your cruise.
- In the form, note that you’ll be using a CPAP machine and will need an extension cord.
Step 3: What Royal Caribbean Provides
If you request it in advance, Royal Caribbean will place in your stateroom:
- A sanitized extension cord
- Distilled water for your CPAP machine
These will be waiting for you when you arrive, so you can set up right away.
Step 4: Other Tips from Frequent Cruisers
- Bring your own adapter if your CPAP plug is non-US standard
- If you didn’t fill out the form, visit Guest Services immediately upon boarding to request the items- supplies are limited
- Pack your CPAP in your carry-on bag so it doesn’t get delayed with checked luggage
Cruising with a CPAP is easier than you might think. You just have to plan ahead. Fill out the form, make your request, and you’ll be set for a safe, comfortable, and well-rested vacation.
